CMF presents new BEST+ statistical series for investment funds and the insurance market
The new data expands the statistical offer available on the BEST+ platform to facilitate analysis of the evolution and key characteristics of both industries.
October 29, 2026 - The Financial Market Commission (CMF) makes available to the public through its BEST+ platform new statistical series for the investment fund and insurance industries.
This addition is part of the institutional modernization effort in statistical production and dissemination, which strives to facilitate statistical and economic analysis of disclosed figures and address the need for up-to-date, timely, and regular information.
In the case of mutual funds, the new series provide an overview of the industry - including the number of fund managers, funds, and investors - as well as the amounts of assets, net worth, and investments. Additionally, the data includes information on composition of investment portfolios based on various classification criteria, including instrument type; market of issuance; and funds' redemption mechanisms. The information is presented at the system level and by General Fund Manager on a quarterly basis, with historical series available starting in December 2010.
Meanwhile, the new insurance market statistics include information on direct premiums; net income for the fiscal year; investments; and profitability, indebtedness, and solvency indices. These data series allow for an analysis of the performance of life and general insurance companies broken down by insurance line and type of investment instrument, among other categories. The information is presented quarterly at the system-wide aggregate level and by insurance company.
The new statistical series are available on the BEST+ platform, which allows users to view, visualize, and download statistical information, as well as access the data through automated services (APIs).
To supplement this information, the CMF makes available the documents "Investment Funds in Chile: Industry Trends and Characteristics" and "Insurance Market Statistics: Industry Trends and Characteristics" - which are part of the "Commented Statistics" series. These publications present a descriptive analysis of the evolution and main characteristics of both markets, providing background information that facilitates the understanding and interpretation of statistical data made available to the public. Both documents can be accessed on BEST+ and the CMF website.
In addition, an interactive visualizer for the insurance market was developed to allow users to dynamically explore and view industry statistics. This tool is available on both the BEST+ platform and the CMF website.
