CMF releases Policy Document on Financial Market modernization
- The report presents a series of proposals to contribute to the development of the financial market. They were gathered in 2024 and 2025 through a process involving participation of the industry, academy, and citizens.
- These proposals supplement the work done internally pursuant to the CMF's market development mandate.
August 30, 2026 - The Financial Market Commission (CMF) released today its Policy Document on Financial Market Modernization with a series of proposals to contribute to the development of the Chilean financial market.
It presents these initiatives by distinguishing between those the CMF plans to implement as part of its short-term regulatory agenda and those requiring longer timeframes by considering their impact, feasibility, proportionality, and coherence with the current regulatory framework.
Altogether, the Document allows an organization of the future work that the CMF will carry out to strengthen the efficiency, competitiveness, resilience, and depth of the Chilean financial market.
The Board of the CMF appreciates and thanks industry, academy, and citizen representatives that were part of the participative process conducted between 2024 and 2025 - a work that supplemented the work done internally by the CMF pursuant to its market development mandate.
Of note: The initiatives presented do not exhaust the CMF's market development agenda. As financial markets evolve, new regulatory needs arise, or additional opportunities to strengthen their functioning are identified, new lines of action may be added. Additionally, the proposals do not imply regulatory decisions regarding the matters covered - they clarify the priorities and lines of action the CMF deems pertinent to explore in the years to come.
