CMF issues amendment to regulation on lapsing of claims
It sets forth that lapsed claims will be transferred in their own right to the Chilean National Fire Brigade Board, an adjustment derived from legal amendments.
August 19, 2026 - The Financial Market Commission (CMF) announces the issuance of Circular Letter No. 2374, which amends Chapter 2-13 of the Updated Compilation of Banking Regulations (RAN) and Circular Letter No. 1 for Payment Card Issuers.
These amendments state that funds belonging to lapsed claims will be transferred in their own right to the Chilean National Fire Brigade Board - which applies to both banks and non-banking payment card issuers. This enssures concordance with amendments itroduced by Law No. 21,572 to Article 156 of the General Banking Act.
