General Director Diego Peralta Valenzuela

Mr. Peralta holds a law degree from the University of Chile, and prior to joining the CMF, he served as partner and head of the Banking and Finance Group at Carey, a leading law firm where he worked since 1996.

He specializes in the creation and structuring of financial products and financing transactions, from both the providers' and borrowers' perspectives; in mergers and acquisitions; and in the issuance and placement of debt and equity securities, both in domestic and international markets, as well as in financial regulatory matters.

At the beginning of his professional career, the new General Legal Director worked at the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic, and later served as Legal Counsel for Citicorp and Citibank in Chile (1985). He is currently a member of the Advisory Council for the Chilean Capital Market.

Mr. Peralta is also the founder and former board member of InBest Chile, a member of its Advisory Council, and a member of the Arbitration Panel of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce. He previously served as board member of the Chilean Bar Association and of the Legal Committee of the Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABIF). In 2015, he was part of the working group responsible for analyzing a new General Banking Law for Chile and also participated as a member of the Commercial Law Recodification Commission during 2016 and 2017.

He has received international recognition from prestigious organizations such as Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer, and IFLR1000.
