March 2, 2026 - The Financial Market Commission (CMF) released a new assessment of claims reported regarding the fires that affected the Ñuble and Biobío Regions starting on January 17, 2026.
For general insurance companies, 524 total claims were filed as of February 20, of which 506 correspond to the Biobío and Ñuble Regions.
Of the 524 claims filed before general insurance companies between January 17 and February 20, 2026, 328 were for damage to homes; 102 for damage to vehicles; and 94 for damage to other property.
Over a month after the emergency, 62 percent of the 524 reported claims are settled. Regarding amounts, total claims filed before general insurance companies as of February 20, 2026 accumulated an approximate settled total of CLP 10,237,127,000.
For life insurance companies, 34 total claims were filed and 33 settled with payments. 26 of these claims correspond to the Biobío Region, and 8 to the Ñuble Region.
The CMF also reminds citizens that they can check online, and free of charge, whether they have insurance on the Know Your Insurance platform available on the CMF website.
