November 18, 2025 - The Financial Market Commission (CMF) alerts the public about scams impersonating the CMF and its staff phone calls, documentation, emails, and home visits.
The Commission states that its staff will never contact bank account holders, nor those with accounts at other financial entities, to obtain personal information or access credentials; offer insurance or investments; request wire transfers or other banking operations to access loans; or report fraud/scams against their accounts.
This alert is particularly relevant given the unusual increase in inquiries received during recent weeks, and the concern expressed by citizens, regarding alleged calls or communications, including home visits, from alleged CMF staff requesting financial information or the handover of credit and/or debit cards and security devices.
The CMF is currently investigating complaints received from the public and will take the communication and legal measures it deems appropriate.
The Commission also reminds the public about the Fraud Alerts Page for investors, policyholders, and banking customers available on its website. Interested parties can verify here whether an entity or person offering financial products or services is supervised by the CMF; check alerts issued by the CMF and other foreign regulators on unregulated entities or activities; and other important advice for the protection of investors, policyholders, and financial clients.
